Langdon Area/Edmore/Munich claims Division A Football State Title

FARGO – After a runner-up finish a year ago, the Langdon Area/Edmore/Munich Cardinals football team is celebrating a Division A state championship.

Langdon Area/Edmore/Munich defeated Hillsboro/Central Valley 20-18 in the North Dakota High School Activities Association Division A football state championship game during Dakota Bowl XXVI on Friday, November 9 at the FARGODOME.

The Cardinals lost to the Burros 16-14 in the 2017 NDHSAA Division A state title game.

Langdon Area/E/M Sophomore quarterback Simon Romfo threw for 211 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Cardinals. Romfo also rushed for a touchdown in the game.

Scoring receiving touchdowns for the Cardinals were junior Sean Gette (47 yards) and sophomore Grant Romfo (1 yard).

Langdon Area/E/M led 20-12 at halftime. The Burros scored in the third quarter when junior running back Oscar Benson ran in a 1-yard touchdown, but the ensuing two point conversion try failed. Benson led the Burros with 214 yards rushing.

The Cardinals defense held up in the fourth quarter to seal the title game win.

The Cardinals finish the year 12-0. The Burros end their season 11-1.
