Bismarck tops Fargo North/South in 2018 NDHSAA Girls Hockey State Title Game

GRAND FORKS – Make it four-straight NDHSAA girls hockey state championships for the Bismarck Blizzard.

Bismarck defeated Fargo North/South 3-0 during the championship game of the 2018 NDHSAA Girls Hockey State Tournament on Saturday, February 24 at Ralph Engelstad Arena.

Bismarck was led by senior forward Britta Curl, who scored two goals in the title game. Her first goal came at the four minute, 14 second mark of the first period and was unassisted on a breakaway.

Felicity Blair scored with 26 seconds remaining in the second period to give the Blizzard a 2-0 lead.

Curl’s second goal was scored at the 10:35 mark of the third period. Curl was named NDHSCA Senior Athlete of the Year and Tournament MVP.

The Blizzard have now won seven state titles in program history. The NDHSAA began sponsoring a girls hockey state tournament in 2003.

Other girls tournament action on Saturday included West Fargo defeating Fargo Davies 3-1 in the third-place game and Dickinson defeated Minot 4-1 in the fifth-place game.
