Williston wins NDHSAA Class A Boys Cross Country Team Title

JAMESTOWN, N.D. – The Williston Coyotes have returned to the top spot in the NDHSAA Class A boys cross country ranks.

Williston had been ranked No. 1 in the latest North Dakota Cross Country Coaches Poll, but the Coyotes needed a strong showing at state if they were going to win their first team state championship since 2004.

A strong showing is exactly what Williston delivered. The Coyotes’ top 5 scorers finished 4th, 8th, 10th, 13th and 23rd for a team total of 58.

Leading the Coyotes was Micade Shumway, who finished fourth with a time of 16 minutes, 4 seconds.

Williston has now won five team titles in program history (1979, 1980, 1984, 2004 and 2018).

Bismarck High sophomore Sean Korsmo won the individual state championship racing to a time of 15 minutes, 46 seconds.
