FARGO – Bismarck Century and Grand Forks Red River locked up in the NDHSAA Class A baseball state championship on Saturday, June 2 at Newman Outdoor Field.

Both programs were in search of their first state title. Bismarck Century ultimately broke through in the championship game picking up a 12-2 victory over the Roughriders.

Century’s only other championship game appearance came in 2010.

Red River plated a run in the first inning to take a early lead, but the Patriots answered with three runs in the bottom of the opening frame.

Century followed up with four runs in the second inning to grab momentum in the early going.

Century’s Connor Hanson pitched a complete game yielding the two runs off six hits and walking two batters.

The Patriots were potent at the plate on Saturday. Leading the way was Century’s No. 5 hitter Isaiah Thomas who was 3-for-3 with a walk, four RBIs and two runs scored. Cade Feeney was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and an RBI for the Patriots.

Earlier Saturday, Century defeated Fargo Davies 4-2 in continuation of a suspended semifinal game from Friday night (Lightning).
